Techniques used at Chelsea Chiropractic & Wellness
Diversified Technique
At Chelsea Chiropractic & Wellness, one of the many adjustment styles we use is referred to as Diversified. Among the most popular chiropractic techniques, this hands-on approach allows us to manually adjust your spinal bones into the proper position.
Diversified can be successful in helping patients of all ages and stages get back to living the life they love, naturally.
The Thompson Technique
Developed by Dr. J. Clay Thompson, the Thompson Technique, is a system of analysis and a method of adjusting the entire spine. The combination yields precise adjustments and a high level of patient comfort.
Activator Technique®
We’re proud to use one of the most popular “low force” chiropractic techniques in the world. With the Activator® handheld instrument, we can provide precise, gentle adjustments where and when you need it most.
This technique is often ideal for patients of all ages and walks of life. Children love our “clicker instrument”, and seniors can comfortably be adjusted more accurately using less energy.
Gonstead Technique
At Chelsea Chiropractic & Wellness, we understand that not every person is the same, and because of that, we’re proud to offer a number of specific adjustments to meet your needs. With the Gonstead technique, often hailed as the “gold standard” in chiropractic, we can address your concerns through evidence-based practices.
SOT
As a specialized and gentle method, Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) focuses on the relationship between the sacrum (base of the spine) and the occiput (base of the skull)—and their ability to foster the movement of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) to the brain and throughout the nervous system.
SOT also recognizes the essential role of normal cranial function in health and disease and therefore addresses cranial and sutural issues within the adjustment. SOT consists of a three-category system that is employed to evaluate, diagnose and address dysfunction within the body.
Our nervous system can only function at its peak when body structures are balanced and our pelvis is stable. This is what SOT aims to achieve.
Applied Kinesiology
Applied Kinesiology borrows from many different disciplines, using muscle testing as a guide for diagnosis and patient care. By testing the strength of certain muscles, we get a glimpse of how related organs and tissue are functioning.
Simple muscle testing helps us uncover functional issues that may be in your body. It can also direct us to the best options to restore your health.
How it Works
First, we review the history of your health situation. This is followed by a thorough physical examination. We’ll let you know if lab tests are needed. Then, we’ll analyze your posture, the way you walk, turn and bend. By combining these findings with the strength or weakness of certain muscles, we develop a unique insight into the possible cause(s) of your problem.
With an understanding of your problem, we select from a variety of healing modalities, which may include:
- Chiropractic adjustments
- Acupuncture
- Nutrition supplementation
- Osteopathic cranial techniques
- Muscle rehabilitation
Pregnancy Care and Webster Technique
Subluxations where the sacrum joins the pelvis (hip) can be quite common during the course of pregnancy, and can produce a variety of symptoms in mothers preparing for the culmination of their pregnancy. Besides potentially interfering with the baby assuming the normal head-down position in preparation for delivery, it can produce a variety of symptoms in mothers preparing for the culmination of their pregnancy.
